Live Edge Hickory Fireplace Mantel

bpr-mantel11The following project was completed by Blasty Paint & Renovation. (Sent in from Windsor Plywood Langley location)

The mantle was constructed of Live edge Hickory purchased from the  Langley store.  The Hickory has had the barked removed, machined, sanded, stained, and finished.  I choose a polyurethane rub coating to finish due to the high wearing, durability and beauty of this product. The face of the fireplace has been finished with a split face travertine tile and pencil tile around the fireplace face.  This is a face-less fireplace, which results in the black trim around the fireplace being covered by tile.  I really enjoyed completing this project for the client.  They are ecstatic with the final product.

“I am the guy to win the Tough Mudder!”

The Tough Mudder adventure challenge are hardcore 10 – 12 mile obstacle courses designed by British Special Forces to test all around strength, stamina, mental grit, and camaraderie. The two day event had over 16,000 participants. Suad, Joshua and a good friend all did well with a few cuts and bruises, but emerged the following work day with no broken bones.

Suad and Joshua have also been nominated for the 2012 Sawchuk Award for the most creative use of a Windsor Plywood vehicle decal for their event t-shirts! Great idea!

Cedar Adirondack Chair

Cedar Adirondack Chair

Western Cedar Adirondack Chair

This was a project submitted by the blog: www. cedarworkshop.net.

Made from leftover  Western Red Cedar deck boards. Each board is 5/4″ thick x 5-1/2″ wide and range from 20″ to 36″ in length.

The curved backrest really hugs your lower back, and the slightly tapered 20″ seat is designed to take the weight off your feet and handle a lot of weight, too.

It’s been 12 years and the chairs are holding up well.

Plans for this chair  came from the Woodsmith Magazine and Plansnow.
